The Wedding Sanctuary, Somerset House

Posted on April 16, 2011

On Sunday 20th March, I helped with the set up and running of The Wedding Sanctuary at the spectacular Somerset House in London.  True to its promise, it really was a unique wedding show offering top design inspiration, personal style advice and one on one planning support.

I got involved by helping to set up The Boudoir (designed by Lisa Sabin of Just Bespoke and styled by Kate Fletcher of Vintage Style Hire) and felt right at home amongst all the beautiful Emmy Shoes and dresses by Sassi Holford.  A particular styling favourite of mine was the Escort Card Frame (click on middle image below to enlarge) which is a unique way to show guests where to sit.  I also loved other aspects of the vintage styling including the birdcages, suitcases and books.

Once set up was complete I was teamed with Velvet Living, Wise Productions and Sternberg Clarke offering advice on furniture, lighting and entertainment.  Velvet Living transformed the advice zones with their beautiful and stylish furniture which was complemented with ambient lighting by Wise Productions.  I particularly like the patterns and monograms they are able to project around rooms.  All three companies are at the top of their game and have portfolios and client lists to prove it.

The highlight of the event had to be the inspiration zone with five tablescapes individually designed by planners of the UKAWPTable Talk caterers sourced the tableware via Well Dressed Tables, linens were provided by Just 4 Linens and the stunning floral arrangements were created by Amanda Austin Flowers.

Finally, the dessert table designed by Helen Carter Weddings is a very on trend focal point at any wedding party.

All of these photographs were captured by the talented Julia Boggio who was also on hand to talk to couples.

I hope that this will become a yearly event and inspire others to think outside the box when planning wedding shows.
