A Wedding Planner’s Wedding

Posted on December 22, 2010

Today my husband and I are celebrating our second wedding anniversary.  Our winter wedding took place in the beautiful Worcestershire countryside, close to where we were both living and working at the time.  We wanted the day to be a sophisticated yet relaxed country affair with some festive touches.

The bridal party preparations took place at Tedney Lodge in Whitbourne, a mile down the road from the village church in which we were married.  I wore an ivory Benjamin Roberts gown made of Godavari silk with crystal embellishments and the bridesmaids wore Alfred Angelo dresses in eggplant which they had chosen themselves.  The men all looked very chic in their charcoal grey morning suits with an ivory waistcoat, purple cravat and pure white calla lily boutonnière.

The church was adorned with over a hundred votive candles and flower arrangements made up of white roses, calla lilies and purple lisianthus.  The parishioners kindly decorated a ten foot Christmas tree and made a beautiful wreath for the church door.

After the ceremony, we headed to the charmingly restored Curradine Barns in Shrawley, where we welcomed guests with canapés and mulled wine.  The venue was dressed with fairy lights and garlands to give it a festive feel.  Hurricane lamps wrapped in Christmas wreaths made for beautiful centrepieces.  The in-house caterers, Galloping Gourmet, were superb and their Michelin trained chef helped us to design a mouth-watering, seasonal menu for our wedding breakfast.

In the evening, our guests enjoyed wine and cheese and live music from a fantastic five piece band, Abnormally Funky.  They kicked off the evening with Stevie Wonder’s Signed, Sealed, Delivered and kept us entertained on the dance floor all night long.

Here are some of my favourite pictures from the day…
